During “Unpacking Race and Racism: Becoming White Allies 2.0,” you join other white people in a small group to sit at the feet of a black man, Emmanuel Acho. Through the words in his book and his video series, Uncomfortable Conversations With A Black Man, you learn what you didn’t know you didn’t know. Join others who completed Unpacking in saying, “I can’t unsee what I saw.” This program is more than a book study. It is designed to take you on a journey to uncover your passion for racial equity and to identify and engage a racial equity project that is a perfect fit for you. The “Unpacking Race And Racism 2.0: Becoming White Allies” program was created by The Unity Center and is offered through The AntiRacism Institute. It picks up where traditional diversity training leaves off. Rather than simply identifying “good versus bad” behaviors, this program deepens participants’ awareness of their personal responsibility, their understanding of the systemic roots of racism, and equips them to take action toward racial equity.
