In honor of Black History Month, on Sunday, February 27, 2022, The AntiRacism Institute will present “Still, We Rise!”, a theatrical event produced by the La Jolla Theatre Ensemble and Common Ground Theatre, sharing the works of African-American poets Amanda Gorman, Langston Hughes, and Maya Angelou, performed by Yolanda Franklin and Ernie McCray, and featuring the Music of the Rob Thorsen Trio. It will be a live in-person event, also live-streamed and recorded for future purposes. “Still, We Rise!” is an opportunity to promote the talents of Black artists, create broader awareness of The AntiRacism Institute, educate people about the issues inherent in the Black-lived experience (entertainment can be a powerful educational tool!), and raise some needed funding for The Institute.
